“You may win in the end, you may ensorcell me and hurt me and humiliate me, but I will make sure you lose everything I can take from you on the way down. I promise you this is the least of what I can do.”

I think I may have just found my favorite book of 2018. Now I have to wait until 2019. No official date. Just sometime in twenty-freaking-nineteen. WHYYYY
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again Holly Black is THE QUEEN of faeries. Don’t even try and argue, you’ll lose every time. I am TRASH for her books. Like she could seriously put out a book with not a word in it and I would still love it just for the pure fact that it is from Holly Black. I’ve loved every book I have ever read by her.
Things I love
-Jude and Cardan (separate and together). They were both super complex characters and equally as dark. It seems everyone who read this book is also trash for the two of them as well.
– Jude admitting her real skill lies in pissing people off. SAME GIRL.
-Cardan as evil as he tries to be is still a lil softy inside. I see you boo, I see you.
-THE SETTING. Y’all I am LIVING that this book takes place in Faerie and in our world too. I am here for it. Jude’s literally throwing down at tournaments in Faerie to be a knight and then going to the Apple Store with her sister. I’m not even kidding.
-Plot twists 1 through 567834683427653. Yes, there are that many. None of which I guessed.
-The fierce love amongst siblings, because nothing says I love you like a sword fight, right?
-THE EPILOGUE. Holly Black basically quietly dug my grave while I read this and once I got to the end pushed me in and buried me.
Things I dislike
-Having to wait until 2019 until the next book
-Some of the bullying scenes were VERY unsettling to read, which may be triggering for some readers
-That probably no other book will top this and I read it not even month into the new year
P.S – getting hit by a car probably feels better than reading the epilogue
I’m climbing back into my grave now so I’ll see you all in 2019 when The Wicked King is out.
Ooooo – great review! Now I can’t decide whether to move this up my TBR or wait until the next one comes out so I can binge them together! Lol

Thanks! It depends how you deal with cliffhangers haha. As much as I would love to tell you to read this immediately the book hangover is REAL after finishing this!
