HAPPY OCTOBER BOOKISH FRIENDS!! 🎃🧛🏻♂️ 👻 ✨
It is officially the GREATEST month of the year, at least in my book. There is nothing better than a crisp autumn morning, the smell of the heat coming on for the first time, paired with all the Halloween decorations and horror movies on TV. It just doesn’t get any better than that! This October I’m going to be reading as many spooky books as I can and I have a whole bunch of other Fall/Halloween related posts planned. (Brownie points to anyone who counts how many times I say the wordy spooky this month)
Today we’re going to kick off Blogtober with the Halloween Creatures 2.0 Tag and tomorrow I’ll have a review with a book I just recently read and loved that ABSOLUTELY needs to be at the top of your October TBR’s!
Let’s dive in!
Rules:
- Answer all prompts.
- Answer honestly.
- Tag 1-13 people.
- Link back to this post.
- Remember to credit the creator. (Anthony @ Keep Reading Forward)
- Have fun!
Witch
A Magical Character or Book.
I think I’m going to have to go with A Discovery of Witches. Even though it sounds cliche that book is pure magic and probably one of my favorite series I’ve read revolving around witches. Also, it’s hella atmospheric. I really need to read the final book in the trilogy!
Werewolf
The Perfect Book to Read at Night.
The Winner’s Curse because it’s so boring it will put you right to sleep.
And that’s the tea.
Frankenstein
A Book that Truly Shocked You.
I think all of us ACOTAR fans can safely say that ACOMAF was the bombshell no one saw coming, and I mean that in the best way possible. I still die over that ending.
The Devil
A Dark, Evil Character.
Would it be a book tag if I didn’t bring up my favorite villain ever? Yes, Darkling, I’m talking about you 😍
Grim Reaper
A Character that Should Never Have Died.
Fred Weasley. Hands down, one of the most tragic deaths in all of YA Fiction. How do you split up twins?! That’s just cruel. Also, I would like to add Mateo and Rufus from They Both Die at the End…not that the title gives that away or anything.
Zombie
A Book that Made You “Hungry” for More.
Shatter Me! After I read the first book I instantly devoured the rest of the series in a few days which was just in time for Restore Me to be released. Not only am now I a huge fan of the series but also of Tahereh Mafi’s other work as well!
Gargoyle
A Character that You Would Protect at All Cost.
Cassian, from the ACOTAR series. Even though he is more than capable of handling himself, he still needs to be protected at all costs for my sanity.
Vampire
A Book that Sucked the Life Out of You.
Stranger the Dreamer literally sucked the life right out of me. I don’t think I’ve ever struggled so hard to finish a book. And yet despite not liking it, I have Muse of Nightmares on my TBR because that cover is gorgeous!
Ghost
A Book that Still Haunts You.
You by Caroline Kepnes messed me up pretty good. I also attribute that to the fact that the owner of the coffee shop I go to gives me some major Joe Goldberg vibes, so I can never really get that character out of my head.
Demon
A Book that Really Scared You.
The Merciless by Danielle Vega was a book that I read alone at night in my basement. A classic rookie mistake. I’m not going to lie when I say that I SPRINTED to my bedroom once I finished it because I was creeped the hell out.
Skeleton
A Character You Have a Bone to Pick With.
Mare from the Red Queen series. Honey, we hate a snowflake, and your attitude was atrocious in Glass Sword. That’s all I have to say.
Mummy
A Book You Would Preserve Throughout Time.
All the Harry Potter books, forever and always.
Creepy Doll
A Cover too Scary to Look At.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cover too scary to look at but the illustrations in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark still haunt me twenty years later. That book traumatized me.
The Monster Mash
It’s Fun to Be with Friends on Halloween!

The death of Mateo and Rufus absolutely destroyed me… but I want to reread the book. I am strange.

Not at all, that’s totally something I would do too! Sometimes there’s nothing quite like revisiting the suffering of a good book.
