I was tagged by the lovely Bookish Pisces to do the Trick or Treat tag! Basically the tag goes as follows, I’m going to be telling you guys about some of the books I’ve read that I really enjoyed and other’s that just didn’t live up to my expectations!

Verdict: TREAT
No one is more surprised about me than this one considering I did not like Warcross. However, since this is a duology and I was slightly curious about the end I picked it up from my library when it came out and I was shocked and glad I give this story a second chance.
Verdict: Trick
This book was a hot mess. It was filled with a lot of pointless drama, slut-shaming, and had little to no plot. Plus, Peter Kavinsky was an absolute garbage can in this one compared to all the growth we saw from him in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Eventually I will pick up the third one just to see how it ends, but I’m in no rush to do so. I’ll simmer in my rage a little while longer. You can find my review HERE.

Strange the Dreamer, was an absolute SNOOZEFEST for me. Don’t get me wrong the writing was beautiful at times, but I couldn’t tolerate the near 300 pages of descriptions this book entailed. Sorry not sorry for the unpopular opinion but this one definitely didn’t cut it for me.
Verdict: Treat
This one was a Treat in every possible way. From the world, to the games, to the characters, the finding out who Legend is, it was all so FREAKING good. I absolutely cannot wait for Finale, and to be shook to my core time and time again. I have a feeling the next book is going to be even more intense. You can check out my review HERE.
Verdict: Trick
Unfortunately, both books in this duology were a Trick for me. I had issues with the world building, I mean, I didn’t even realize what time period this book was taking place in until it was super late into the story. I also did not like Kate, Sloan was a pretty lousy villain, and I didn’t care too much for August. I was more invested in Kate’s monster hunting crew than any of the MC’s. So again, definitely a Trick of a duology. Review can be found HERE.

A Very Large Expanse of Sea, is the best Treat on this list. Had to save the best for last. I read this in book June and I can’t even express how heart-breaking and thought-provoking this book was. It follows Shirin, a young Muslim girl living in America post 9-11 and how she struggles with racism, xenophobia, first love, and bouncing from high school to high school. This book made me have a better understanding of the white privilege I have and I am forever grateful to have been given to opportunity to read this book. It comes out October 16th!

I agree with P.S. I Love You! Ahhh. I nearly DNFed it but I skimmed the ending. Not the best at all. I liked Always and Forever a LOT better but some thought it was just as slow or didn’t have too much plot. Personally, I liked that it lacked the drama and Lara Jean has so many coming of age moments.
I’ve been putting off Strange the Dreamer for so long. Interesting! I struggle with pretty writing as well.
And I’m so excited for Legendary now. I thought I read somewhere that Legend didn’t get revealed in Book 2. I don’t know which book they were reading, haha.

Honestly, I can deal with the minimal plot if the drama isn’t there. This one just had waaaaay too much, it was seriously becoming so eye roll worthy.
The actual plot of Strange the Dreamer is SUPER unique, but ughhhh the pretty writing just killed me. But who knows, maybe the story line will be worth it for you?
I meannnnn, maybe who Legend is is a lie, I hope not because I love who it turned out to be. But by the end of this book you DEFINITELY find out who it is lol!

I have! Honestly, it’s so hard to compare the two of them because they’re really nothing alike. This is a huge change of pace from the Shatter Me series but the writing is still amazing. I think this one definitely tugs on my heart more and is so much more emotional because its so raw and so real, I was crying before the first chapter was over haha! But at the same time I’m absolutely obsessed with the Shatter Me series.

I love this! I might do this for my end of October Wrap-Up.
I just recently bought Strange The Dreamer and I’m hearing/seeing sooooo many mixed reviews about it so I’m kind of nervous haha.
