Happy Friday friends!
It’s Friday, so you know what that means – MORE RECOMMENDATIONS! I can’t believe we’re already halfway through the month of January. Today’s Contemporary January recommendations are going to be about one of my favorite things ever….retellings. I love me a good retelling and I’m super excited to share with you a few of my favorites!
Make sure you check out Amanda’s list HERE.
Let’s dive in!
Favorite Retellings
Any King Arthur fans out there?! This is such a fun gender-bent King Arthur retelling that I was LIVING for. It comes out March 5th, 2019 and honestly you just really need this book on your shelf. Not only is the cover stunning but the story is WILD and the LGBT+ rep was everything and more!
Wrong In All the Right Ways is a reimagining of Wuthering Heights. This book also holds a spot on my favorite romance novels, so you should definitely check this one out (especially if forbidden love without being taboo is your kind of jam).
My review can be found HERE.
To Kill a Kingdom is a retelling of The Little Mermaid a.ka one of the best Disney movies ever. This book was the perfect amount of politics, betrayals, and princes. Plus, for anyone who hasn’t read this but loves Nikolai Lantsov… PICK THIS UP!
You can find my review HERE.
My Lady Jane was a book that I was sure I wouldn’t like but actually ending up loving. This book is hilariously witty and sarcastic and had characters that I absolutely adored. If you need a break from high fantasy and tough contemporaries this is the perfect story to keep you hysterically laughing from the first page to the last.
You can find my review HERE.
Gotta save the best for last. Wintersong is a retelling of the movie Labyrinth, and one of my favorite books EVER. I adored Liesl and the Goblin King. This book has forever confirmed the fact that if there is book that has goblins in it, I will read it. No questions asked.
You can find my review HERE.
And there you have it, my favorite retellings so far!
What are some of your favorite retellings? I’m always on the hunt for more.
Until next time,
Ahh I absolutely adore To Kill A Kingdom and My Lady Jane–definitely have to check the other ones out!
