What’s up, bookish friends?!
Today we are going to be talking about the #MagicalReadathon a.k.a the #OWLSReadathon 2019! This is the first year I’m going to be participating in the read-a-thon and I’m super excited because obviously I love all things Harry Potter. Plus I’m heading to Harry Potter World in May and this is making me all the more excited to go. If you are interested in joining check out the video with all in the info you need to know HERE.
From my understanding (which could be totally wrong because I’m new to this), you have the option of choosing a career and if you do so you have to read certain prompts in order to “pass” your O.W.L.S. You can also opt out of choosing a career and just read as many of the prompts as you can in the month long read along. Since it’s my first time doing this I wanted to get the “full” experience and choose a career. I also told myself if I have some extra time I’ll try to read more prompts than my career needs, but that’s probably pushing it.
Let’s dive in!
My Career / TBR
I went back and forth with which career I wanted to pick. Originally, I chose the Healer career because I love all things medicine related (I mean, I only do it for a living so DUH), however, the O.W.L requirements for the Healer career is super ambitious and it’s just not going to happen for me. I still need to leave a little room to catch up on ARC’s and I’m trying to cram four seasons of Game of Thrones in before the new season starts, so I needed to be realistic. Which is why I chose the Auror career, I might as well pick something fun and exciting!
Career: Auror
Traits: Bravery, Morality, Determination, Honour, Agility
O.W.L.S – Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Potions, Transfiguration
Charms – Age Line: Read an Adult Work
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
*takes a deep breath*
Guys, I’m officially giving in and going to read this. If y’all let me down with all these raving reviews you posted I will be DEVASTATED.
Defense Against the Dark Arts – Reducto: Title Starts With R
Ruined by Amy Tintera
This has been sitting pretty on my TBR forever and I’ve finally found a good reason to knock it off. I’m very curious to see if this lives up to the hype on Goodreads.
Herbology – Plant on Cover
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
Forever squealing because I am SO excited for this one!
Potions – Next Ingredient: Sequel
Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch
I tried reading this in February but I was in a MASSIVE reading slump so I put it to the side. Now that I’ve defeated the slump I’m ready to restart this bad boy.
Transfiguration -Sprayed Edges or Red Cover
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
This is as close to red as I could get. The only other book with a red cover on my TBR is Kingsbane, which unfortunately is not out yet. But I am sooo excited for this because I have heard so many amazing things about this book!
That’s all for my career!
Let’s talk!
Will you be participating in this read-a-thon? If so let me know your career and link me with your TBR’s so I can check them out!
Until next time,
Omg this sounds amazing! I watched the video but I’m still a little confused on how to sign up and join a house and post reviews etc! Where did you go to find this Info?

don’t think there’s anywhere you necessarily sign-up for it but if you look in the description of the video there’s all links with instructions, FAQ’S, prompts, and the careers! I honestly don’t have the best attention span to sit through videos so the links were all super helpful haha!

This looks like so much fun! All of my friends are taking part but I’m behind in so many books that I’m bowing out this year, but best believe I will be your digital cheerleader as you participate! Will also have popcorn and tissues for when you read Evelyn Hugo, because I hear THAT is a emotional roller coaster. Good luck!

I’m participating too! I’ll link my TBR down below 🙂 I’m going to aim to read the five books for Auror and if I’m able to read two more I’ll go for Hogwarts professor. I really like the ideas of both careers and I’m very indecisive so I’m leaving it up to how many books I’m able to finish, haha. I’m so excited to hear what you think of Sorcery of Thorns and Red, White & Royal Blue 🙂 I’m so excited for both of them!
