Hello, bookish friends! 🖤
As you might have noticed I’ve been a little MIA for the month of May, while I do miss blogging and have basically a thousand reviews to write I’ve been pretty sick lately and just haven’t had the energy to do so. I’m finally starting to feel well enough to read again so coming back full force blogging is my next goal!
Today we’re going to be talking my most anticipated read for the month of May. I have been waiting for what feels like FOREVER for this book to come out and it’s finally less than a week away!
These Witches Don’t Burn
Hannah’s a witch, but not the kind you’re thinking of. She’s the real deal, an Elemental with the power to control fire, earth, water, and air. But even though she lives in Salem, Massachusetts, her magic is a secret she has to keep to herself. If she’s ever caught using it in front of a Reg (read: non-witch), she could lose it. For good. So, Hannah spends most of her time avoiding her ex-girlfriend (and fellow Elemental Witch) Veronica, hanging out with her best friend, and working at the Fly by Night Cauldron selling candles and crystals to tourists, goths, and local Wiccans.
But dealing with her ex is the least of Hannah’s concerns when a terrifying blood ritual interrupts the end-of-school-year bonfire. Evidence of dark magic begins to appear all over Salem, and Hannah’s sure it’s the work of a deadly Blood Witch. The issue is, her coven is less than convinced, forcing Hannah to team up with the last person she wants to see: Veronica.
While the pair attempt to smoke out the Blood Witch at a house party, Hannah meets Morgan, a cute new ballerina in town. But trying to date amid a supernatural crisis is easier said than done, and Hannah will have to test the limits of her power if she’s going to save her coven and get the girl, especially when the attacks on Salem’s witches become deadlier by the day.
Why this should be on your radar
Do I honestly need to say anything other than GAY WITCHES?! Because, uhm, yes please!
I was instantly sold when I saw how stunning the cover of this was, but after I read the synopsis I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning. This is literally everything I could have asked for in a book. Y’all already know anything that involves the supernatural has me sold, I don’t need to know anything else besides when can I finally have this in my hands. I spent an entire semester studying the Wicca religion in college and have been fascinated with it ever since. Now, that Wicca is starting to pop up in YA books more often it makes my heart so happy because I think that there are a lot of misconceptions about the religion, when in fact it’s such a peaceful and respectful religion.
I’ve heard nothing but positive things so far about These Witches Don’t Burn, and it is literally taking everything in me not to camp out in front of my bookstore for the next week until I can add this to my bookshelves!
Until next time,
