Thank you Skye Book tours for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for a honest review!
A Whole New Me is a standalone friends to lovers romance.
Tessa has something to prove and she wants to use Ricky to do it.
She’s not surprised when he agrees to her friends with benefits plan, but she is surprised when it seems like Ricky wants more than she’s willing to give.
Can she keep Ricky without giving him hope for something more?
Because Tessa won’t let this be love.
Romance is always my solid go-to when I’m feeling slumpy and this quarantine has been kicking my ass when it comes to reading. So when I received an opportunity to read a romance novel written by one of my first friends in the blogging community I was STOKED. A Whole New Me has so many aspects of what I love in contemporary and romance novels, and worked so well for me to kick my reading slump to the curb. I love stories in college settings where people are often finding themselves for the first time when they’re not surrounded by the comfort of what they’ve grown up knowing..add some romance in there and I’m sold!
If you’re looking for a fast-paced read that is a little heavier on the romance rather than the contemporary side, definitely check this one out. One of the things I really enjoyed was seeing Tessa grow as a character. She definitely did not start out as my favorite in this one but I mean, we’ve all had our days of being naive and indecisive, right? By the end of this though, she really won me over. I adored Ricky the second he came into the story and loved that he truly wasn’t just another jock but a genuinely good guy. There’s so much more than what meets the eye with him and part of me not loving Tessa initially was because I didn’t want Ricky getting hurt. And when you lock the two of them in a room together their sex is STEAMY and I was living for it! Like, truly living for it.
In terms of what I would have liked to see more…it was just about everything. Adrianna does such a great job of creating likable characters that it makes it so easy for readers to become invested in them. I also think a coming of age story about a girl going off to college has such huge potential in itself, so I definitely would have loved to see more of Tessa building new friendships, dealing with the struggles of balancing college life during freshman year, Ricky’s backstory with his mom, and even just more of Ricky and Tessa’s relationship – especially in the beginning. This is a quick read that I devoured in one sitting but I definitely would have loved to have more time with these characters!
All in all, I’m super excited to have been able to read Adrianna’s book and I can’t wait to read more from her as well as her career grows! If you’re looking for a quick, fast-paced, steamy read to kill off a few hours while we’re all locked inside then mark your calendars because A Whole New Me comes out tomorrow, May 1st!
Until next time,
