Blogtober: Wrap Up | September 2020

Hi, friends! 🎃🔮✨

Today we’re going to do a quick wrap up of the books I read in September. I only read five books throughout the month but I can’t even be mad about it because I’ve been getting a ton of work/baby prepping done around the house. Now, that a lot of that is done it’s been much easier for me to get back into the swing of reading so hopefully October will be a better reading month, especially since it’ll be my last month before my little girl gets here! After that who knows what my reading months will look like 😰.

Let’s dive in!

What I read in September

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout – ★★★.5
Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore – ★★★.5
Normal People by Sally Rooney – ★★
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas – ★★★★.5
Goblin King by Kara Barbieri – ★★★.5

Don’t feel like reading a review?
Here’s my thoughts on each book in one sentence!
  1. From Blood and Ash – Vampires are back and sexier than ever.
  2. Blanca & Roja – A quiet yet meaningful read.
  3. Normal People – Definitely not for me but still a semi interesting experience.
  4. Cemetery Boys – Be still my beating heart, I’m in love.
  5. Goblin King – A dark gritty world filled with an epic adventure.

Even though this wasn’t my highest rated book of the month it was the most enjoyable for me in terms of just eating it up. From Blood and Ash is a thick girl coming in at over 600 pages and I absolutely devoured this. It’s just a good, trope-y, easy read… plus vampire smut, so obviously I’m here for it.

Least Favorite Read of the Month

I picked this up on a whim and if it wasn’t for the writing it would have been a total DNF for me. The characters and the overall plot fell really flat for me but from the mixed reviews I’ve seen it seems like most people either love this book or have a pretty similar experience as I did. So, I’m glad I gave it a try but it definitely wasn’t for me.

Until next time,
